THE ROLE:
As a Clinical Psychologist working in our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) your main duties will be:-
” To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources, including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
” To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the formulation and implementation of plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s mental health, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems in the context of family and wider system, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of client settings.
” To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
” To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
” To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment and formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni – and multi-disciplinary care.
” To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior clinical psychologist and, where appropriate, other senior professional colleagues.
” To undertake project management, including complex audit and service evaluation, with colleagues within the service to help develop service provision.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
” Hold a current HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist
” Hold a post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the BPS
” Have eligibility for charted status with the BPS
” Be able to provide evidence based practice of improving patient clinical outcomes
” Have the ability to teach and train others using multimedia materials
” Have an understanding of and practical application of psychology models
” Be flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and workload effectively in line with the needs of the service
” Have a desire to expand your professional development and support organisational change
” Have a legal right to work in the UK
