THE ROLE:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Lead Teacher in a specialist hospital setting for young people aged 12-18 years who have mental health needs. You will be providing quality education for young people who are unable to access their own school for medical or psychological reasons.
Young people are referred to the hospital with supporting medical evidence. You will be expected to work closely with the young people’s mainstream schools and be committed to creating links to promote educational inclusion. Your role will be to support, nurture, educate and enable young people to return to their home school when, and if, it is appropriate.
Each young person will have a personalised timetable which includes access to both core and foundation subjects alongside an accreditation and therapeutic curriculum. Individual timetables are designed to ensure they meet the young people’s academic needs, whilst taking account of health and emotional factors.

This is an excellent opportunity for teachers from all specialisms within mainstream, specialist education or community provision who are looking to move into a hospital specialist setting.
As an outstanding practitioner, you will be passionate about influencing educational best practice and able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

” A fully qualified teacher ideally with some experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
” An experienced, motivated Lead Teacher who can lead and share best practice.
” Be interested in how ASC/Attachment disorders impact learning across a range of ages.
” Passionate, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
” Be able to demonstrate excellent skills in planning and reporting across the curriculum for children aged 12-18 years old.
” Have excellent interpersonal skills
” Be highly organised team player.
” Be committed to working in partnership with parents and outside agencies
