We are currently looking to recruit an RGN to join our clients established department.
This is a full-time (37.5 hrs), permanent role with a salary range of £38,576 per annum.
As a Nurse Practioner, you will be central to providing high quality care within a secure forensic setting consisting of medium, low and open rehabilitation settings working alongside patients whom have a diagnosis of a mental illness and or personality disorder. Within your role you will work as part of a physical health team providing care for patients including assessment, treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.


” Organisation and co-ordination of physical healthcare services for the hospital, to include the delegation of duties to ward based RMN’s and HCW’s as appropriate
” Providing treatments to patients in participation with the doctors or independently to agreed protocols.
” Providing general specific health screening to patients, with referral to the Medical Officer or secondary care as appropriate.
” To assist the primary nurses in the formulation of care plans for physical health needs.
” To provide an appropriate triage service for acutely unwell patients.
” To organise the registration and referral of patients to other services such as dentists, opticians, chiropodists etc.

Other responsibilities will include:

” Wound care
” Urinalysis
” New patient and annual physical examinations.
” ECG’s
” Asthma review/Peak Flow/Spirometry
” Venepuncture
” Ear Syringing
” Routine immunizations
” Chaperoning
” Assisting the Medical Officer with minor surgery
” Requesting pathology tests
” Chronic disease management.


” Extensive clinical experience
” Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Care Programme Approach, Risk Assessment and Risk Management
” Up to date knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983
” Effective communication skills
” Motivated with a strong “can do” attitude
