THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and creative individual to become part of a growing team within a newly opened special school for children with complex communication and social difficulties.
The school offers day and residential placements for students aged 6 to 19 years whose difficulties are typically associated with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and other associated issues that impact their emotional health and wellbeing and create barriers to learning.
Students are likely to experience challenges with social communication and interaction with others and lack understanding of the everyday social rules. These difficulties can impact on their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and ability to participate in education or engage positively with others.
As the Registered Manager you will be leading a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of children and young adults first. The successful candidate will provide appropriate physical and emotional support through the work of a team within a residential and educational/learning environment and with off-site activities.
You’ll be helping individuals to live the lives they choose and to ‘empower them to grow’. It’s a really important role, having responsibility for supporting people’s personal, health and care needs.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
” Effective management of a team, which involves motivating, coaching, managing performance and auditing the quality of care as well as effective deployment of team resource and supporting other Houses/Snr Manager colleagues.
” Ensure that relevant quality standards are met and wherever possible exceeded and ensure opportunities are taken to develop and improve practice.
” Understand what quality and good care is in practice, be able to articulate this and act as a role model in demonstrating this in practice.
” Demonstrate a professional manner at all times liked to a caring approach and the ability to relate to staff in a supportive and motivational manner.
” Ensure own and team’s adherence to all policies and procedures and regulatory and legal requirements of the role and of the Aurora Values
” Support the training and development of your team, particularly QCF (including some support with assessment of work) and mandatory, and the overall team development to ensure the delivery of quality care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Are you a Registered Manager with proven experience of working effectively with young people with learning disabilities and/or special needs?

Do you have experience of leading and managing a team and developing good practice in a care/learning support context?

” Attained or Work towards QCF Level 5 Diploma.
” QCF assessor qualification is advantageous but not essential
” First Aid

EXPERIENCE:
” Proven experience of leading and managing a team and the development of good practice in a care/learning support context.
” Proven experience of working effectively with young people with learning disabilities and/or special needs.
” Experience of planning, organising and learning activities appropriate to meet young people’s needs and abilities, demonstrating positive outcomes.
” Experience of person centred planning.

REQUIREMENTS:
” Eligibility to work within the UK
” Satisfactory Enhanced DBS with barred list checks
” Be able to meet the demands of what can be physically challenging work at times.
” Be able to work within a rota pattern including unsocial hours and weekends. Depending on the service this may include a combined rota of day and waking night working.
” Depending on the location/nature of some Provisions the role may require a full valid driving licence.
