Our client’s Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Set in a semi-rural location within four acres of beautifully mature grounds.

Part of the specialist Education Service, the children’s home is a registered home for up to five young people aged 7 to 19 who have complex needs which may include autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and complex associated difficulties. This home is open 52 weeks per year.

We believe that this organisation is a very special home for children and young people where daily living experiences and activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.

Children may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and lack of social understanding.

THE ROLE:

As a Night Waking Officer, you will have the responsibility to ensure that the children and young people in your care are safe.

This is a waking night, 52-week post which requires staff to be alert and observant at all times. In addition to regular checks on the children and young people you will be assigned additional tasks which might include administration and laundry.

  • Effective communication skills
  • Previous experience in a special needs environment for at least 2 years would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate that they possess the skills required to be successful and a desire to learn.
  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Child or Young Person’s Work Force. Again, not desirable but if you do not hold this qualification then experience with special needs would be essential.
