Purbeck View School

Purbeck View School is a 38 and 52 week mixed-gender residential school for students aged 7-19 with a diagnosis of autism, or whose difficulties place them on the autistic continuum. Day provision is available for students who live close by.
The schools location in the seaside town of Swanage ensures that integration into the community is a part of daily life. Students have access to all the local amenities, the beautiful Purbeck Hills and coastline trails.


This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a strong team working as a Care Support Assistant in one of the 9 self-contained houses with in the school grounds.

You will be required to support sessions within the classrooms as well as duties around the house.
The rota pattern is over a 2-week period and will be 40 hours averaged across the weeks, working every other weekend. You will work all day shifts or all-night shifts starting from 7am – 7pm (7pm – 7am) or 8am – 8pm (8pm – 8am).

Shift Pattern

Week 1: On – Monday and Tuesday, Off – Wednesday and Thursday and On – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Week 2: Off – Monday and Tuesday, On – Wednesday and Thursday and Off – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Your role will be to enable the students, as much as possible, to increase their level of independence. During the evenings and weekends, you will work in the residential accommodations, supporting students with activities of daily living, accessing the community and using public transport.
The role involves assisting with personal care, medication administration and all household activities.

You will be expected to contribute to the writing and reviewing of support plans, risk assessments and completing records. You may be required to undertake a keyworker role for a student, acting as a key contact for the individual, liaising with parents/carers and other stakeholders and contributing to the setting and reviewing of goals. You will need to be able to work with and alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT). You will be expected to participate in training when required.
